SCT 322—LISTENING TO EVOKE NEW AWARENESS
SCT 322—LISTENING TO EVOKE NEW AWARENESS
2 sessions; 4 hours
Instructor: Laura Stephens-Reed, PCC
Coaching sessions are most effective when the coach draws out new awareness from the client about who the client is and wants to be, new perspectives about the client’s situation, and new ideas about how the client can move into a hoped-for future. Coaches employ questions and observations to get below the client’s initial thoughts to these more powerful insights. To do so, though, the coach must be able to hear deeply and reflect the client’s words, shifts in energy and emotion, and current understandings of the world. In this course we will explore in depth what it looks like to listen actively (ICF core competency 6) in order to evoke awareness (ICF core competency 7). We will also engage in coaching practice so that participants can get real-time feedback in these areas. This course is open to all coaches and is particularly recommended for those working toward an ICF credential and the performance evaluation required as part of that process.
Requirement: Participant must have completed at least 16 hours of coach training.
Fee: $175
